PROGRAMME CHANGE: Due to force majeure, the scheduled performance of Trio Boccherini has been cancelled and will be replaced with a concert by violinist Žig Branek and pianist Beata Ilona Barcza.

The programme for the March season concert will be composed by Slovenian violinist Žiga Brank and Hungarian pianist Beata Ilona Barcza.

 

Violinist Žiga Brank is one of Slovenia’s most prominent violinists and pedagogues. His playing has been highlighted by many critics for its refined tone of a wide spectrum, technical brilliance and virtuosic exuberance. He has been a member of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, a member of the Zagreb Soloists, and concertmaster of the Slovene National Opera and Ballet Maribor. Teaching and passing on the knowledge he acquired from the most distinguished professors remains his main professional path. He teaches at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, and also works on an honorary basis with the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet. He regularly conducts masterclasses and seminars and participates in major juries at home and abroad.

 

Beata Ilona Barcza is a Hungarian pianist and chamber musician. She is also interested in other keyboard instruments typical of early music, including the harpsichord. After receiving a scholarship to study at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in the class of Jasminka Stančul, she moved to Ljubljana in 2015. As a pianist, she has participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned names from the world of pianism and singing. She has performed at the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra several times in various contemporary music projects. As a soloist, she has accompanied the orchestra in Hungary and Italy. She has performed in chamber ensembles in Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia and Serbia. Currently she works as a violin accompanist at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.
