Short Film Night

Short Film Night

Small Hall of Nova Gorica Arts Center

On December 21, Slovenia has joined, at the initiative of the Slovenian Film Centre, an international event where filmmakers and screening venues raise the importance of short films. The Short Film Night highlights short movies and presents them as independent creations.

The winter solstice is a day when the night is the longest. This is the reason why the international film institutions have chosen this date to celebrate short films and to screen a marathon of different film genres. Due to their short format, short films are often screened as an introduction to feature-length films, whereas in commercial cinemas they have been replaced by commercials. So, the usual audience has almost no access to domestic and international short film production. The existence of short films is hence limited to festivals.

The event found its place in more than 50 countries around the world. Enthusiasts and anyone who is still discovering short films, will be able to find everything from the classics, student films to animated films for children and adults.
