Exhibition Season 2022/23
Nova Gorica City Gallery remains an important venue for presenting contemporary visual art practices, and is open to various views and reflections in the field of contemporary art. The exhibition season 2022/23 will predominantly revolve around group exhibitions, which well get us acquainted with the newest production of selected Slovenian and foreign artists, especially those belonging to the young and middle generation. Amongst them we will once again see the traditional study exhibition, curated by the art historian Vladimir Vidmar.
Pixxelpoint
The Pixxelpoint International Festival of Contemporary Art Practices has become one of the most important festivals of intermedia art and contemporary art practices not only in Slovenia, but also in a wider international context. The festival presents key developments in the field of new media art, presenting contemporary art practices at the intersection of art, science and technology. It promotes communication and critical discourse in the field of intermedia art, which in itself acts globally and keeps opening up new perspectives, new (virtual) worlds.
Art Collection
In 2000, we started, quite spontaneously at first, to form our own art collection alongside our exhibition activity. Later, the collection became a carefully planned activity that encompasses works of established Slovenian and foreign artists, who have exhibited their creations at our gallery. The collection exhibits works by contemporary Slovenian artists, who with their own authentic artistic expression convincingly reflect the time in which they were created.
About the Gallery
The Nova Gorica City Gallery is one of the main exhibition spaces for contemporary visual arts in the region. The exhibition concept offers an insight into the most recent develop-ments in visual arts. The Gallery’s programme showcases mainly curatorial exhibitions, as well as solo and group exhibitions by the Slovenian artists of the young and middle genera-tion. The rich exhibition and teaching programmes, lectures and various accompanying events, linking various generations and educational institutions, are aimed to turning our gallery into a venue for research, discovery and accepting an array of different approaches to contemporary visual arts.
