JAZZ SAXOPHONE WORKSHOP

This year’s jazz saxophone workshop will be led by Jaka Kopač, one of the leading jazz saxophonists of the younger generation of Slovenian musicians. Based on his past achievements, we can assume that Jaka will contribute to many more good projects with his work and interest in music, both as a musician and a teacher. This time it will be entirely dedicated to saxophonists from Nova Gorica.

The jazz saxophone workshop will be accompanied by the rhythm section of Big Band NOVA. Participation in the workshop, which will end with a concert by the participants of the Summer Saxophone School ALL TOGETHER NOW on the big stage of the Cultural Centre Nova Gorica, is suitable for participants from the 4th grade of lower music school onwards.

Participation fee per person

• 140 € (regular fee)
• 126 € (for members of the Saksofonija Music Society and for saxophonists from Nova Gorica)

Programme:

• individual lessons with a teacher and the rhythm section,
• the preparation and the study of compositions for the final concert,
• listening to concerts as part of the SAXGO23 Festival and having the possibility to analyse the performance with their teachers.

The participation fee includes:

• three individual lessons (3 x 60 min) with the teacher,
• the preparation and the performance at the closing concert ALL TOGETHER NOW in the Large Hall of the Nova Gorica Arts Centre – Kulturni dom Nova Gorica, and
• all materials.

A more detailed presentation of the programme:

• BASICS OF TONE PRODUCTION. Sound and Space. Body-ear-brain at work.
• SCALE. What scale are you from? Scales from all over the world.
• INTERVAL. So near, so far – so far, so near.
• MELODY. Create your own melody.
• HARMONY. Fundamentals of tonal organisation in the Western system.
• RHYTHM. There is no movement without the rhythm. Everything is the rhythm!
• ENSEMBLE. We play together.
• NOTATION. Ear and eye.

Age limit: suitable for students from the fourth grade of lower music school upwards.

Maximum number of participants: 10 – the criterion of the order of the received application shall apply
