CHAMBER CHOIR VIKRA

The chamber choir Vikra was founded in 2014 under the auspices of the Glasbena Matica of the Friuli-Julian Region in Trieste. The cast of young Slovenian and Italian singers is one of the most prominent and certainly the most original and advanced vocal ensembles in Slovenia and Italy, as evidenced by awards and recognitions from choral competitions and prestigious concert stages. Let us only mention the successes at the 59th Seghizzi International Competition in 2022, when Vikra won the grand prize, the first prizes in the categories of renaissance, romantic and contemporary music, the prize as the best chamber choir, and the internationally renowned conductor Petra Grassi also won the award for the best conductor of the competition and the best program. The group from Trieste won in every category they entered. Another exciting feature of the vocal group: the line-up is a hybrid, as it discreetly includes male voices in a predominantly female group, representing an additional artistic and technical challenge.

At this time’s Concert of Remembrance and Dialogue concert, they pay tribute to the famous Trieste Slovenian writer Boris Pahor. The vocal group has already performed the concert program in the prestigious Pavarotti Freni Theater in Modena and the “Ridotto” Hall of the Verdi Theater in Trieste. Still, now we can listen to it for the first time in Slovenia. The composure of the singers, the intensity of the performances and the in-depth analysis of the compositions in the finished performances will undoubtedly convince the listeners from the Goriška region.
