The musical narratives of composer, successful conductor and professor Ambrož Čopi have appealed to singers and listeners from Slovenia and abroad for three decades. Čopi leaves a unique mark on Primorska, where he started and led many choirs, including the Nova Gorica Chamber Choir, with the tremendous success of the APZ of the University of Primorska, and also takes care of the organization of cultural events and festivals. He prefers to find inspiration in choir music, and he is one of the few composers in our country who writes sacred concert music. He won many prizes with the choirs, including in competitions abroad, and recorded eleven records, four of which were his original music.

The selection of compositions that the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir will perform under Čopi’s baton on his 50th birthday expresses his life’s credo – joy | hope | love. In his compositions, he combines various compositional techniques used in previous periods and quotations, and he looks for contrasts in enthusiasm and joy. In intertwining different styles, secular and worldly, by connecting the old and the new, he wants to transcend the dimension of time and invite us into his perspective of accepting and feeling the world
