JAZZ SAXOPHONE WORKSHOP

In the European context, there is one name that inspires admiration among the audience and great respect among musicians: Baptiste Herbin. His extreme dedication to the alto saxophone is heard and echoed on world stages, as he is technically and musically one of the most advanced European saxophonists. He is the winner of the Django Reinhardt Award, awarded by the French Jazz Academy, and he helped the French saxophone manufacturer Selmer develop the new “Supreme” model. Drawing from the bebop tradition of Charlie Parker, he maintains the lightness of virtuosity, phrasing and sound projection that only the greats can achieve. This lucky ones can catch him in Nova Gorica at a 5-day jazz saxophone and imporvisation workshop among the SAXGO26 Summer School.

Participation in the workshop, which will end with a concert by the participants of the Summer Saxophone School ALL TOGETHER NOW on the big stage of the Cultural Centre Nova Gorica, is suitable for participants from the 4th grade of lower music school onwards.

Registration fee

• 180 € (regular price),
• 162 € (discounted price for members of the Saksofonija Music Society, for saxophonists from Nova Gorica),
• 100 € (discounted price for students of the Nova Gorica Music School Nova Gorica)

Programme:

• individual lessons with a teacher and the rhythm section,
• the preparation and the study of compositions for the final concert,
• listening to concerts as part of the SAXGO26 Festival and having the possibility to analyse the performance with their teachers.

The participation fee includes:

• individual lessons (45 min) with the teacher (the number of hours will be announced later, based on the number of registered)
• the preparation and the performance at the closing concert ALL TOGETHER NOW in the Large Hall of the Nova Gorica Arts Centre – Kulturni dom Nova Gorica, and
• all materials.

• BASICS OF TONE PRODUCTION. Sound and Space. Body-ear-brain at work.
• SCALE. What scale are you from? Scales from all over the world.
• INTERVAL. So near, so far – so far, so near.
• MELODY. Create your own melody.
• HARMONY. Fundamentals of tonal organisation in the Western system.
• RHYTHM. There is no movement without the rhythm. Everything is the rhythm!
• ENSEMBLE. We play together.
• NOTATION. Ear and eye.

Age limit: suitable for students from the fourth grade of lower music school upwards.

Maximum number of participants: 12 – the criterion of the order of the received application shall apply
