JAZZ SAXOPHONE WORKSHOP

This year’s five-day Jazz Saxophone Workshop will be led by the internationally renowned progressive tenor saxophonist and composer Igor Lumpert, who currently lives and works in Nova Gorica. The Jazz Saxophone Workshop will take place with the accompaniment of the rhythm section of the Big Band NOVA. The participation in the workshop, which will end with a concert of the participants of the Saxophone Summer School ALL TOGETHER NOW on the big stage of the Nova Gorica Arts Centre, is suitable for participants from the 4th grade of lower music school onwards.

Programme:
- individual lessons with a teacher and the rhythm section,
- the preparation and the study of compositions for the final concert,
- listening to concerts as part of the SAXGO23 Festival and having the possibility to analyse the performance with their teachers.
The participation fee includes:
- three individual lessons (3 x 60 min) with a teacher,
- free passive participation in the Master Class held by the French Habanera Quartet which will be organised in the Concert Hall of the Music School of Nova Gorica on Thursday 28 June 2023,
- the preparation and the performance at the closing concert ALL TOGETHER NOW in the Large Hall of the Nova Gorica Arts Centre – Kulturni dom Nova Gorica, and
- all materials.

- BASICS OF TONE PRODUCTION. Sound and Space. Body-ear-brain at work.
- SCALE. What scale are you from? Scales from all over the world.
- INTERVAL. So near, so far – so far, so near.
- MELODY. Create your own melody.
- HARMONY. Fundamentals of tonal organisation in the Western system.
- RHYTHM. There is no movement without the rhythm. Everything is the rhythm!
- ENSEMBLE. We play together.
- NOTATION. Ear and eye.
Age limit: suitable for students from the fourth grade of lower music school upwards.
Maximum number of participants: 10 – the criterion of the order of the received application shall apply
