One’s for Sorrow, Two’s for Joy

Nordmann, Şimşek and Miribung are the three voices of the trio TRËİ from Basel. They sing and perform in theatre productions, concert projects and interdisciplinary collaborations, developing staged music programmes that revolve around the question of what does it mean to be human.

Seeing themselves as citizens of the world, the three artists interweave their diverse cultural and musical backgrounds: Renaissance, Baroque and folk repertoire, music from East and West, along with original compositions.

Their programme “ONE’S FOR SORROW, TWO’S FOR JOY” pays tribute to wailing women, midwives, and other female figures who, for centuries, have accompanied birth and death through song.
