The final concert of the season spotlights the enchanting voice of the flute—an instrument whose sound carries its own special stories. The Slovenian Flute Trio unites three exceptional, internationally acclaimed Slovenian flautists who have achieved great success across Slovenia and throughout Europe. Brina Kafol Žust is a prize-winner at numerous national and international competitions. Marko Zupan enjoys a richly diverse international career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, improviser, arranger, and professor. Boris Bizjak, also a laureate of multiple competitions, performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician on prominent concert stages. For this performance, the ensemble will present works from their acclaimed album featuring the flute trios of Belgian composer Eugène Walckiers. They are the first ensemble in the world to have recorded these rarely performed pieces—music notable for its remarkable lyricism, sensuality, and virtuosic flair.
