The Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra is a regular distinguished guest of our Music Season Ticket. The orchestra can boast with a rich tradition, for its roots reach back to 1701, while its present-day form reaches back to 1947, when the Slovenian Philharmonic was established. The orchestra combines the best Slovenian and foreign musicians and is a regular guest at the most prominent music festivals abroad. It performs the standard 18th and 19th century orchestra repertoire, as well as the most current music and music from the older periods, with which it proves its versatility. Slovenian permanent conductors, including Samo Hubad, Uroš Lajovic and Marko Letonja as well as guest conductors and soloists of international fame are to be credited for its development.

On this occasion, the orchestra will perform under the baton of the Italian guest conductor, flautist, composer and musicologist Federico Maria Sardelli, the main conductor of the Orchestra Baroque Academy of St. Cecilia from Rome. He cooperates as a guest conductor with numerous ensembles, amongst which we can find the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Venetian La Fenice and the Russian State Chamber Music Orchestra. In 1984 Sardelli founded the mediaeval ensemble Modo Antiquo, with which he had recorded over 40 records (for record labels Naïve, Deutsche Grammophon, Sony, Glossa, Dynamic and Brilliant) and was nominated twice for the Grammy award (1997, 2000). Together with the orchestra he will fill the Large Hall of the Nova Gorica Culture Centre with the sounds created by one of the most brilliant violinists and composers of all times, Antonio Vivaldi. Vivaldi’s compositions, ranging from his best known to the almost unknown, will present the fil rouge of the concert.
