Radio.string.quartet is a contemporary string quartet based in Vienna. Their music is visionary, multi-layered, and simultaneously both old and new–a rediscovered cosmos that bridges the future with the solid roots of the past. It draws in enthusiasts of classical music, jazz, pop, and electronic music alike. Since its formation in 2004, the quartet has sought to expand the sonic spectrum of the classical string quartet–demonstrating that anything is possible with sixteen strings. Whether jazz-rock grooves, pop songs, new music, or European folk tradition, radio.string.quartet has consistently pushed boundaries, securing a lasting place in the genre of non-classical string quartets.

Their latest album is dedicated to the music of Johann S. Bach. The ensemble has adapted Bach’s Violin Sonata in G minor, arranging it in a way that brings this 300-year-old compositions into the present. The pillars of the Baroque master’s music remain firmly anchored and distinctive, with only the attire reimagined for today–transformed through the musical language of the radio.string.quartet. The result is a modern listening experience in which the group merges its unique sound cosmos with the ideas and forms of the Baroque master.
