SLOWIND WIND QUINTET
Emanuele Torquati, piano
The Slowind Wind Quintet celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2024. In the thirty years of its existence, the ensemble, which performs practically all the works of the standard repertoire for this ensemble, has profiled itself as an uncompromising and, in the Slovenian context, the most active performer of contemporary works, ranging from the classics of the avant-garde to the youngest, not yet established, but very promising composers of our time. The ensemble is particularly active in the field of contemporary and new music and is a regular guest at the most important festivals of this kind. Slowind has been awarded the Župančič Prize (1999), the Prešeren Fund Prize (2003) and the Betetto Prize (2013).
The members of the quintet continuously invite a wide variety of renowned local and international musicians to join them. This time, they will be joined on the Great Hall stage by Italian pianist Emanuele Torquati, who has quickly gained international fame for his poetic and passionate music-making. The recipient of several international awards, and distinguished by his attention to beauty of tone and noble lines, he regularly gives concerts in Europe, Canada, America and Africa.
