Japanese saxophonist Makoto Hondo is passionate about the baritone saxophone repertoire, and he collaborates with several composers and makes his own transcriptions or arrangements. His first CD “BARITONISM – Russian Cello works -” with a programme of two sonatas by S. Rachmaninov and D. Shostakovich was awarded the “56th Record Academy Awards Japan” by Record Geijutsu. After graduating from the Tokyo University of the Arts, he continued his studies at the “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris” and graduated in the class of Claude Delangelo and in the chamber music class of Prof. Laszlo Hadady. As an Erasmus exchange

student, he also studied at the “Conservatorium van Amsterdam” in the class of Arno Bornkamp. As a soloist, Makoto has won three first prizes at international competitions (Slovenia, L’Hay-les-roses in France, Andorra) and first prize of the 34th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition in 2017. In the field of chamber music, he won 2nd prize at the 9th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition. He has received support from the Yamaha Music Foundation, the “Fondation l’Or du Rhin” and the “Fondation Meyer” in France. He teaches at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Tokyo High School of Music and Senzoku Gakuen High School of Music in Japan.


 

Spanish saxophonist Antonio García Jorge has been awarded the first prizes on numerous international competitions in France, Spain, Croatia, Italy and Andorra. International success has enabled him to give recitals throughout Europe and Asia. He has given concerts in the most important concert halls of Spain, France, China, South Korea, Croatia and has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras. He participated in the World Saxophone Congress in Strasbourg (2015) and Zagreb (2018), where he performed as soloist in the opening concert. Being attracted to orchestral music, he regularly performs with symphonic orchestras: “Castilla y León”,

“Adda Simfónica”, “Región de Murcia”, the Galicia Symphony Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia), the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire (OLC Paris) in many renowned venues. He is interested in the creation of new music and has collaborated with the IRCAM Institute in Paris and with composers such as Joan Magrané, José Manuel López-López, Gilbert Amy, César Camarero, Naoki Sakata, José Luis Escrivà and Luis Naón. After studying under the supervision of Juan Clemente Novo, Vincent David and Claude Delangelo at the CNSM in Paris, Antonio continued his studies at the DAI – Contemporary Music and Creativity course with prof. Hae-Sun Kang. In parallel, he pursued his Master’s degree in chamber music in Prof. David Walter’s class with the Yendo saxophone quartet, with whom he performs all over the world. He has recorded three albums: Musique Espagnole pour Saxophone’ and ‘La Follia Nuova’ with French pianist Alexis Gournel and ‘Utópico’ with the Yendo quartet. Antonio currently teaches saxophone at the ‘Conservatorio Superior de Música Manuel Massotti Littel’ in Murcia and is an ambassador for prestigious Henri Selmer Paris and Vandoren Paris brands.


 

After studying at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, Sae Lee graduated with honours in piano and chamber music from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with Michel Beroff and Eric Le Sage. She is the first prize winner of several competitions, including the Città di Padova and Albert Roussel International Festival and chamber music competitions like the Fnapec, Carlo Soliva and Cidade de Alcobaça. She has performed at the renowned Paris Piano à Enghien Festival, at the Nevada-Semipalatinsk International Conference, which is sponsored by the Government of Kazakhstan and UNESCO, and on the Japanese national television

programme NHK Classic Club. As a soloist she performed with a number of orchestras worldwide including the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra and Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra – she performed with them the Turangalîla’s Symphony by Olivier Messiaen. She collaborates with world renown ballet dancers like Aurélie Dupont (the Director of Paris Opera Ballet) and Kevin O’Hare (the Director of The Royale Ballet). Sae is currently employed at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana. “Sae Lee is one of the most sought-after collaborative pianists of her generation. Jan Gričar is a representative of the younger generation of successful Slovenian musicians. He graduated from the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana with the highest honours in the classes of Professors Matjaž Drevenšek and Miha Rogina. Jan continued his musical career in France, where he studied at the Regional Conservatory of Versailles under the guidance of Professor Vincent David and successfully completed his master’s studies at the prestigious Paris Conservatory, officially known as the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, under the supervision of Professor Claude Delangel. In addition, he obtained a

bachelors’ degree in chamber music in the class of Professor Laszlo Hadady. He regularly performs on numerous music stages in Slovenia, Europe and Japan. He has performed as a soloist with the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, the RTV Slovenia Symphonic Orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. During his career, he has played with the Ensemble Intercontemporain and under renowned conductors such as En Shao, Matthias Pintscher, Anton Nanut and Marko Letonja. Jan Gričar is the first prize winner of numerous national and international competitions, such as TEMSIG – Slovenian Music Competition for Youth, Fiorindo International Music Competition, SVIREL– International Music Competition, the International Saxophone Competition in Nova Gorica, etc. He has been awarded several significant prizes for his outstanding achievements in the field of music: the Škerjanc Award of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet, as well as the Prešeren Award and the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award of the University of Ljubljana. He repeatedly won the Zois Scholarship and was also a holder of the scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. He works at the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet, where he teaches saxophone and chamber music.
