The Slovenian representative of the saxophone elite at SAXGO23 will be the tenor saxophonist Igor Lumpert (1975-) from Novo mesto, who has been living and working in New York for many years, and who brings the fruit of his imagination back to Slovenia time and again. He has worked with the world-class musicians such as Reggie Workman, John Abercrombie, Ben Monder, Matt Brewer, Damion Reid, Jonathan Blake, Sonny Simmons, Christopher Tordini and Nasheet Waits. Lumpert will present with them a special mix of jazz standards and original compositions.

As part of the SAXGO23 event, Lumpert was also passing on his knowledge at this year’s Summer Saxophone School at the Jazz Saxophone Workshop, which took place at the Music School of Nova Gorica from 26 June to 1 July 2023.
