EVA DOLINŠEK, harpsichord

Harpsichordist Eva Dolinšek graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in 2015, studying under Professor Egon Mihajlović. She regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals and concert stages, both in Slovenia and abroad. In 2021, she released her second album, BAROK II – Pièces de clavecin, following her debut recording BAROK from 2016. Her dedication to the revival and study of early music extends beyond performance, it includes scholarly lectures, professional writing, and artistic direction of the baroque chamber ensemble Musica Nucis. She regularly upgrades her knowledge with renowned French harpsichordist and conductor Christophe Rousset and Italian harpsichordist Professor Enrico Baiano, a leading expert on Italian baroque repertoire. Until 2022, she worked as a teaching assistant at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.

For this evening’s programme, Eva Dolinšek has chosen works by three legendary composers—Johann Sebastian Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, and George F. Handel—united by the year 1685. One day, perhaps astrologers or numerologists—those who uncover the symbols that mysteriously bind the most distant events—will offer us an explanation. For now, we can only marvel that, in that fateful year, three new stars appeared on the musical sky—Handel, Bach, and Scarlatti. Three celestial bodies whose orbits occasionally intersected, but mostly followed independent trajectories leaving trails that we can still observe in the musical cosmos.
