The chamber ensemble Ensemble Dissonance is comprised of established musicians from Ljubljana, who operate within the String Quarter Dissonance, The Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, are lecturers at the Ljubljana Academy of Music and independent musicians. The founder of the Dissonance Institute, under the wings of which the ensemble operates, is the cellist Klemen Hvala, whose mission is to promote and develop chamber music in the Slovenian environment. He contributes to its development in various ways: by commissioning new compositions (especially by Slovenian composers), cooperating with world-renown artists, young musicians and leaning on the rich music tradition of Ljubljana.

At the second Season Ticket concert, the ensemble will be joined by the young Slovenian concert flutist Martin Belič, the only Slovenian, who managed to become a member of one of the best symphony orchestras in the world – the famous Munich Philharmonic, in which he plays the first flute. Alongside soloist concerts and chamber music recitals he also recorded and performed with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, SNG Maribor Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic and the String Orchestra of the Music Conservatory Maribor. The renowned music critic Marijan Zlobec wrote: “Martin Belič continues the great tradition of Slovenian concert flutists from the past 50 years – from Boris Čampa and Irena Grafenauer to contemporary times – and is one of the major representatives of the global concert flute scene.”
