The Concert Season 2018/2019 will wrap up with the concert of the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra from Budapest, one of the best chamber ensembles in the world. In the rich fifty-year history, the orchestra has performed at festivals and concert venues all around the world. The vast repertoire of this chamber ensemble includes works from the Baroque, Classicist, and Romantic period as well as contemporary music. The orchestra has recorded over 200 plates and collaborated with major soloists like Sviatoslav Richter, Yehudi Menuhin, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Isaac Stern, Mstislav Rostropovich, Vadim Repin and Zoltán Kocsis to name a few. This time the ensemble will be sharing the stage with Gottlieb Wallisch.
Gottlieb Wallisch is a brilliant Austrian musician of the younger generation. His interpretations are distinguished by virtuosity and strong individuality. He has won prizes at several international piano competitions, including first prize and the “Grand Prix Ivo Pogorelich” at the Stravinsky Awards in the USA. He was also a finalist in the 1999 Queen Elizabeth Competition in Belgium and in the XXI Clara Haskil Piano Competition in Switzerland in 2005. As a soloist, Gottlieb Wallisch has repeatedly played with leading world orchestras. In Nova Gorica, he is going to play with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Hartmut Rohde, performing the world première of Hans Gál's Concertino for Piano and String Orchestra, Op. 43.
