KRONBERG ACADEMY QUARTET
MATE BEKAVAC, clarinet
Kronberg Academy is based near Frankfurt but is also represented in the US and South Korea. It is a private international cultural institution supporting and educating the most gifted young musicians. This elite institution provides degree programmes only for a handful of regular students (violin, viola, cello). However, every year, it organizes also a number of master classes, festivals and workshops for outstanding young musicians from around the world who must pass extremely difficult auditions in order to participate. The young play music and gain experience directly on stage and, what is more, with the most distinguished musicians of our time.
The string quartet will take centre stage at the Kulturni dom Nova Gorica together with Mate Bekavac who is considered one of the top musicians of his generation. He performs as soloist with the world's most renowned names of the music industry. Moreover, he also tackles musical research, composing and conducting. The Slovenian clarinettist, who is also responsible for the concert programme, described the upcoming music event in Nova Gorica: »This will be a music journey into unknown! A white page has names on it that do not reveal much to an averagely educated admirer, not even to the so called music connoisseur. However, a journey into unknown can be a challenge, a relief, a surprise, an experience that holds no burdens of prejudices and comparisons."
