The fifth concert of the Concert Season presents a Slovenian cello player, who lives and works in the United States. At the age of three, Gal Faganel stated that he will play cello. And so it happened! He studied abroad where he graduated under the mentorship of Eleonore Schoenfeld at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 2003, and obtained a doctor’s degree in 2007. He is currently an acclaimed cello teacher at the University of Northern Colorado. He performs as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe, as well as in Asia and in the Middle East He is a prize winner of several international competitions, who has in his rich repertoire a number of Slovenian works, which he has been systematically studying, performing and recording since 2006. He has been recording live and for the archive for many radio stations, as well as for the RTV Slovenia.
At the recital in Nova Gorica he will perform together with one of the most popular and valued pianist of the younger generation, Simon Trpčeski. In his ten-year professional artistic career, the Macedonian pianist has performed with the world’s greatest orchestras (including the London, Birmingham and Sydney symphony orchestras, the Rotterdam, St. Petersburg, New York and Seoul philharmonic orchestras, the Bolshoi Theatre and the Russian National orchestras, the Royal Concertgebouw and the French National Orchestra) and other renowned conductors. He showed his extraordinary talent in a number of soloist concerts, and he also performs chamber music. He has released a number of successful recordings at EMI and received numerous awards for them.
