The opening concert of this year’s Concert Season will be a truly memorable experience, as the Kulturni dom Nova Gorica, in cooperation with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, is going to pay tribute to one of the most prominent Slovenian musical performers Marko Munih and to his venerable anniversary.Concert held in celebration of Marko Munih’s 80th birthday organized by Kulturni dom Nova Gorica, RTV Slovenia and Slovenian Philharmonic Choir.
Marko Munih left his impression in the Slovenian history of twentieth-century music first and foremost as an orchestral and choral conductor. He has contributed visibly and meaningfully to the Slovenia’s musical life with his work. Of utmost importance are mainly interpretations of the great Slovenian and foreign vocal and instrumental works. The flattering reviews that the maestro received for his performances always emphasized his sensitivity and musicality. Critic and composer Pavel Mihelčič, who has been closely monitoring Munih’s work of art for almost forty years, wrote: “His hands are like the choir’s breath, if they breathe – the choir breaths, if they make a soft move – the choir sings softly, gently ... It is understandable, however, that this can only be achieved with the cooperation of all the performers, and this cooperation has truly produced excellent results.”
